If a listing uses the word organic, ask what the proposed service actually involves. Choose based on identification, prevention measures and clear product information.
What to document before the visit
- Describe pest evidence and entry points already observed.
- List treatment preferences for the provider to discuss.
- Note shared spaces that may need coordinated preparation.
Understand the proposed scope
Request the specific approach: exclusion, monitoring, sanitation recommendations and any proposed products. A marketing label alone does not establish suitability or eliminate precautions. Ask for written product and use instructions from the provider, including preparation and re-entry information. Compare the full plan and its follow-up instead of relying on a label.
Questions worth asking
- What nonchemical measures are part of the plan?
- Which products are proposed and why?
- How will monitoring determine whether the approach is working?
