Sump pump installation
A pump is one part of a basement-water plan. Ask the installer to explain the collection point, discharge route and intended operating conditions.
What to document before the visit
- Describe where and when water has appeared.
- Record existing pump information if safely accessible.
- Note whether you want to discuss backup power or an alarm.
Understand the proposed scope
Compare pump selection, basin work, discharge piping and electrical coordination as separate items. Ask how the discharge destination is checked for suitability and local requirements. Include testing, instructions and maintenance expectations in the proposal. Avoid treating a new pump as proof that every source of basement moisture has been resolved.

- Why does this pump fit the expected conditions?
- Where will water discharge, and who confirms that arrangement?
- What testing and backup options are included?
