Gas-line service planning
Gas-line work belongs with a qualified provider. If you suspect an active gas leak, leave the area and contact the gas utility or emergency services from a safe location. Do not use this guide to investigate the leak.
What to document before the visit
- For planned work, identify the appliance or project involved.
- Gather existing project documents without inspecting or adjusting gas fittings.
- Ask which party coordinates utility involvement.
Understand the proposed scope
For non-emergency work, request a scope covering the proposed change, required approvals, testing and reconnection responsibilities. Appliance installation and gas-line work may be separate items. Ask the provider to identify who performs and verifies each part.
Questions worth asking
- Is this work within your qualifications and service scope?
- Who coordinates with the utility when needed?
- What documentation will I receive after testing and inspection?
