ELECTRICAL / A SERVICE-PLANNING GUIDE
Residential electrical service
Prepare for an electrical visit by describing the affected lights, outlets or equipment and the pattern you notice. Diagnosis and work on wiring belong with a qualified electrician.
What to document before the visit
- Record which devices are affected and when the problem occurs.
- Mention recent appliance or renovation changes.
- Do not open a panel or remove covers to collect information.
Understand the proposed scope
Ask whether the visit is for investigation, a defined repair or planning new equipment. A written proposal should identify the work, access, finish restoration and inspection responsibilities. For smoke, fire or an immediate electrical hazard, keep clear and contact emergency services.
Questions worth asking
- What does the diagnostic visit include?
- What findings would change the scope?
- Who handles permits, inspection and opening repairs?
Use the guide locally
