A wiring estimate should define the rooms, fixtures and intended uses. Clear locations and access expectations make proposals easier to compare.
What to document before the visit
- Sketch where the new outlets, lights or equipment are wanted.
- Describe whether walls are open or finished.
- Identify work that must be coordinated with another contractor.
Understand the proposed scope
Ask for a written list of circuits or equipment included, the access method and responsibility for patching. Specify who supplies fixtures and who handles inspections. Changes requested after finishes are restored can alter scope, so resolve layout decisions before work begins.
