Plan installation around the building and the intended comfort goals. Compare a complete system proposal rather than a list of equipment model numbers.
What to document before the visit
- Describe existing systems and rooms with comfort concerns.
- List planned renovations or changes in use.
- Record questions about equipment locations and project timing.
Understand the proposed scope
Ask how the design addresses heating, cooling, distribution and controls. Separate equipment, connection work, alterations, removal and commissioning. Confirm who coordinates approvals and other trades. Require written exclusions and a process for approving changes before work begins. At handover, request operating instructions, warranty details and the completed test record.
