HEATING & COOLING / A SERVICE-PLANNING GUIDE
Air conditioning repair
A cooling complaint can involve equipment, controls or air distribution. Give the technician a pattern of symptoms rather than a guessed component.
What to document before the visit
- Record when cooling falls short and which rooms are affected.
- Keep model details and previous service records together.
- Note visible messages and unusual behavior from a safe distance.
Understand the proposed scope
Ask for diagnosis before approving a component replacement. Clarify inspection, parts, labor and any additional investigation as separate items. If refrigerant work is proposed, ask what findings support it and whether a leak needs assessment. Request a record of completed work and the checks used to confirm operation.
Questions worth asking
- What did the diagnosis establish?
- Does the repair address the cause or only the symptom?
- Which post-repair checks and warranty are included?
