HEATING & COOLING / A SERVICE-PLANNING GUIDE
HVAC assessment & repair planning
Start with the outcome you need: restore operation, investigate uneven comfort or assess aging equipment. Those goals may require different service scopes.
What to document before the visit
- List the systems and rooms involved.
- Record symptoms, timing and earlier service.
- Describe ownership or tenant coordination needs.
Understand the proposed scope
Ask whether the visit is a repair diagnosis, whole-system assessment or replacement estimate. A sales quote does not necessarily include the same investigation as a diagnostic visit. Request written findings, proposed work and exclusions. If several trades are involved, agree who coordinates electrical, fuel, duct or building changes.
Questions worth asking
- What type of assessment is included?
- Will I receive findings before selecting a repair?
- Who coordinates work outside the equipment itself?
Use the guide locally
Choose your city for the relevant local starting point. A guide’s availability does not mean a contractor or referral offer covers your address.
